Wilds quest question

So there is this npc that gives you a quest to go into the hut and meditate. I go in, sit down around snakes covering the ground, get high off the weed they are burning and go into a meditative state. I then leave and go into another dimension ( ok the weed is working...) I make my way up the hill where I meet a few snakes. They tell me this...

One snake in your hand is as good as two snakes in a bush...

So my mind starts thinking as to why the snakes told me that... So far no other quests past that has given me any clue as to what it means.

If this is some type of real life joke like (my own snake in my hand I can understand but two snakes in a bush? Sorry I am not even going to go there with that one... )

Does anyone have a clue to what the two snakes really meant?
