Regarding Plane of Water Onslaughts

Hey everyone, so I recently hit 65 and started the Aquias Avenger/Defender quest, and it's messing with my head big time. I'm not really referring to the invasions themselves, more of the camp things that spawn with 1 million health turrets and 500k health mobs.

As a mage, I've tried 61 pyro (bad idea), Necro/mentalist, Chloromancer, and Chloro/lock, and all to no avail. Some were squishier than a cushion, others had zero dps (guess which one). Just wanted to ask if any of you have some advice/specs on how to solo these as a mage?

Also, are turrets worth building? I always do the springs because health regen, but I've heard that building turrets will cause elites to spawn.
