  • About the query from phoenix1957 on November 25th: An “Infernal Chain" appearance does not exist as its own collection set in the way that it does for Leather, Cloth, Plate. The German and French tooltip on the Infernal Chain Hauberk was confirmed to match the English text. The Wardrobe system is complex and in some cases perhaps not outwardly logical, however this case does not appear to be a bug, according to the development team's designer and programmer I spoke with who are familiar with the Wardrobe system. I've offered to communicate with phoenix1957 in private messaging to make sure there aren't any other issues related to his gameplay goals.
  • Wardrobe appearances general note: The game contains some gear/costumes that count toward acquisition of costume appearances of different names. Because of the extensive amount of appearance variety, the company does not publish a comprehensive list of which items contribute to which costume appearances. The red text tooltip you see about appearances was added by the development team based on player feedback (precisely because we don’t publish a list) to assist with knowing which thing unlocks which thing.
  • I wrote in this forum a few months ago that we would review the localized slash commands after 3.4 and then report back to you guys on any issues discovered, and also see whether we could present the commands better visually within the client. We began in October but abandoned the plan when we discovered how much time it takes to cross-reference the commands and their metadata, simply to know which command does what. Because of that, more time than the Loc Team can allocate would be required to locate each command and differentiate it from the lookalike text strings that exist for different usage. (Call me naïve.) Secondly, it turns out that a not-so-trivial amount of programming work would be required to display the commands in a more visually appealing way in the client chat log. Stepping back from my initial promise, I'd like to reiterate my offer that if you are having trouble locating or using a specific slash command or its abbreviation in French or German, I'll look it up for you on a case-by-case basis. If you feel it's broken in a particular macro, send me the macro info too and I'll investigate it as I would for any potential localization issue.
Localization Issues Thread: Maintenance Plans
  • As you can see, our cozy little loc issues mini-forum has not yet been moved or split, nor have I built out a signature with navigation tips. Yet. Our plans are the same and will move forward as soon as I can get a hand from a few more people in the company. So don't be surprised if you check here one day and suddenly discover that we've moved to a different location within the forums.
  • Directing DE/FR players to the localized Trion Support website is an important part of my plans to better assist forum visitors here who have issues besides content. A few weeks ago I discovered that the company's 2015 CRM system modifications resulted in the removal of some localized Help articles and site navigation text that had previously been live for visitors. (You might have noticed yourself if you found English on our Support site where you expected to see your own language.) We're working on this now. I don't know which item will finish first -- Support page localized content repair, or Loc issues forum maintenance -- but they both need to happen, and will happen, to provide an improved experience for you.
Thanks all. May the Force Be With Your Holiday Season! (Happy Jedi Summer to Oceania!)
